Kolding Miniby was founded in 1996 with the aim of building Kolding as it looked around 1860-1870 in models on a scale of 1:10.\n\nToday (2023) more than 400 buildings have been completed, which makes up approx. 57% of the buildings at that time.\n\nThe mini-builders work diligently and voluntarily on the great task. We produce the timber-framed buildings and bricks, windows and gates ourselves. They are produced by hand according to old traditions, but computers are also used. The drawings for the construction are made in the design studio in our administration, and this also takes place after thorough preparation, among other things, at the City Archives.\n\nThe completed houses follow a carefully planned sequence to create a coherence in the street layout, so that visitors can get a feel for the old royal city. The crowning glory of the work is of course Koldinghus, which towers over the city.\n\nIn 2010, Kolding Municipality provided an area for the relocation. We got our very own corner of the Geographical Garden. The first sod was laid on November 16, 2010, after which preparations for the relocation began.\n\nThe first building to move in was of course Koldinghus, which is made up of approximately 50 components.\n\nKolding Miniby was inaugurated on June 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. by Kolding's then mayor, J\u00f8rn Petersen. The red ribbon was cut with mini scissors, and mini mayor J\u00f8rgen Asmussen then handed over the miniby's key to the mayor of Kolding.\n\nMany sponsors buy our houses, which gives us the opportunity to buy materials for the construction. In addition, there are voluntary contributions from our generous guests and sales from our Minibod (see the SHOP tab).\n\nIn May 2017, we started building new administration and workshops in connection with the Minibyen in the Geographical Garden. This construction was completed in December 2017, when we moved into the lovely new premises. Since we have previously had workshops and offices in many places around Kolding, it was a great gain to have everything together on the same site as our Miniby.<\/p>
